From Name Candy:
1. Leven (m) - A Scottish place name and the name of the title character in the contemporary children's fantasy book series Leven Thumps.
2. November (f) - Sure April, May and June are the months we hear most as names, but November is a perfectly lovely first name and lends itself the the nicknames Ember and Em.
3. Autumn (f) - A name in honor of the season of your baby's birth, Autumn is currently the 81st most popular name for girls in the U.S.
4. Nevele (f) - Nevele (pronounced
(NEH-va-LEE) is the equivalent of Nevaeh, but for the word eleven.
5. Elva (f) - Swedish for "eleven"
6. Hendeca (f) - Greek for "eleven"
7. Elvin (m) - The name Elvin derives from "elf," the German word for "eleven".
8. Onze (f) - French for "eleven"
9. Ursula (f) - Saint Ursula is said to have been martyred with 11,000 virgins.
10. Odd (m)
Suggestions from Name Candy readers:
1. Evelyn (m or f) - We think of Evelyn as
a girls' name, but it works for a boy as well. (think Evelyn Waugh).
Either way, Evelyn has a nice slant rhyme quality to it.
2. Ellevine/Elevine (f) -
According to a NameCandy.com reader, Ellevine is the traditional
Norwegian name given to the eleventh child. The variant with two "ll"s
looks like it has an 11 in it. It also shortens nicely to Elle.
3. Apollo (m) - Inspired by Apollo 11, Apollo was also the name of one the 12 major Greek deities. Like Ellevine the double "ll" gives the name a little extra 11-oomph.
4. Amp (m) - A subtle nod to the number 11, as in "This Amp goes to 11," from the movie Spinal Tap. (LOL!!!)
5. Nigel (m) - If Amp is too out
there for you, you could always name your little 11-11-11 boy for the
man who first uttered that famous phrase in Spinal Tap, Nigel Tufnel.
6. Levina (f) - We couldn't find much information on this name suggested by a NameCandy.com reader, but Levina sounds like a name (maybe a variant on Lavinia?) and calls to mind eleven without hitting you over the head.
7 & 8. Ella & Vena (f) - A nice pair of four-letter names for girl-girl twins, Ella and Vena both peaked in popularity in the United States in the 1880s.
9 & 10 Evan & Levi (m) - A nice pair of four-letter boy-boy twin names, both Evan and Levi are
near their popularity peaks right now. Both names are also part of the
new androgyny movement as well, so could also work for girl-girl
twins.
11. L. Evan (m or f) - Alternately you
could name your son (or daughter) Levi Evan (or any other name beginning
with L) and s/he could go by L. Evan.
There are a couple of really cool suggestions, but I am enamored with November as a name. November, nn: Nova? Heck yeah!
We'd been joking about Rowan being an 11-11-11 baby - I'd rather him hang out a while longer, but they are good numbers. I like Nevele for a girl though!
